With only one week left to register for the Cardiff Marathon and Half
Marathon, Macmillan Cancer Support is calling on all would-be runners to
get registered and sign up to Team Macmillan. Marathon registrations close
on Friday 15 September at www.cardiffmarathon.org, but runners can still
pledge their support to Macmillan up until Monday 9 October.
Last year, as well as raising £10,000 for people affected by cancer, the
Team Macmillan runners were all given tremendous support along the route
and treated to a free massage once they had passed the finish line.
As screening and treatments improve, more and more people are living with
cancer in their daily lives. 1.2 million of us are living with it today.
This means that as well as medical help, people affected by cancer need
practical emotional and financial support.
To meet these needs and to reach more people living with cancer, Macmillan
is changing and broadening its range of services. This is why we need your
support more than ever. The money your raise through taking part in the
Cardiff Marathon will help to ensure that we improve as many lives as
possible.
Macmillan would be delighted to hear from any registered Marathon runners
who have not yet pledged their support to a charity. Wendy Smith, National
Events Co-ordinator for Macmillan Cancer Support, added: "Last year,
runners complemented us on the support they were given around the route and
particularly welcomed the free massage at the end. Sign up today, as you'll
get a lot out of it and you'll also have the fantastic incentive of knowing
you're helping people affected by cancer. I guarantee you'll be proud to
wear your Team Macmillan running vest on the day".
We are all affected by cancer. We can all help. We are Macmillan.
