21 years… over 10,000 athletes… £118,000 raised for charity…

The Annual Belfast Third World Run will be held on Sunday 20th May 2007 in Ormeau Park, starting at 3pm.

Third World Run Belfast

The event started in 1987 as a sequel to the Sport Aid "Run for the World" in 1986, inspired by Bob Geldof, and organised in towns and cities all around the world to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia.

Since then our local Third World Run has been held each year. Last year almost 700 entrants helped raise £10,000 for the four benefiting charities - Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Oxfam Ireland and Trocaire, bringing the total raised since the first Run to over £118,000.

The organisers are now inviting entries for this year's Third World Run - the 21st so far. There are three separate events, a 10K Run, 3K Fun Run, and a 3K Family Fun Walk, so runners and walkers of all ages and abilities can take part.

Entry forms are available in libraries, leisure centres, at the "Up & Running" shop in Belfast, or from any of the benefiting agencies, and they can also be downloaded from the Third World Run website: www.thirdworldrun.org.
