SCOTLAND IS SENDING STRONG men’s and women’s teams to an international Ekiden road relay event in Spain this weekend. The VI Campionat de Catalunya Marató per relleus will take place in Palafrugell, Northern Spain this Sunday and will feature opposition from the host country and international teams from throughout Europe.
The team have been selected based on their performances during the recent cross country season and consequently, Scottish champions Robert Russell (Central AC) and Collette Fagan (City of Glasgow) will lead the teams into action.
The competition should also prove to be a fine way of blooding the likes of John Newsom (Pitreavie AAC) and Sara Stevenson (Giffnock North) both of whom have emerged as fine prospects this winter.
