In the senior men\u2019s race Derek Hawkins (Kilbarchan) was in action and placed 91st, the 6th GB athlete across the line. The GB senior men placed 15th.<!--more-->Meanwhile, Andrew Lemoncello continued his build up to April\u2019s London Marathon with a lifetime best of 63.00 in the New York Half Marathon, placing 18th in a race won by Mo Farah in a new British record of 60.23. With only 4 weeks to go until London, Lemoncello is hitting form right on schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Closer to home the Alloa Half Marathon produced one of the closest results in its history as three athletes hurled themselves over the line together. Shettleston\u2019s Tewoldeberhan Mengisteab was awarded the win in a time of 66.27 but it was junior team-mate Matthew Gillespie, given the same time in 2nd place, who grabbed the headlines, the time putting him 3rd on the UK U20 all time list. Tsegai Tewelde took 3rd place only 1 second behind Gillespie and Mengisteab and it was an outstanding day for Shettleston as Paul Sorrie finishing 4th saw the club take the top four places. Natalie Christie (Edinburgh) was the women\u2019s winner in a time of 80.31.<\/p>\n<p>At the Glasgow Winter Throws Meeting at Scotstoun, Chris Bennett (Shaftesbury) placed 2nd as he launched his hammer out to a massive new lifetime best of 67.26m to go 7th Scot all time.
