Pavey withdraws from Worlds

UKA announces the withdrawals of Jo Pavey and Louise Damen from the women’s marathon team set to compete at the IAAF World Championships at Daegu, Korea, in August.

Pavey (coach: Gavin Pavey) has sustained a minor foot injury and has had to ease off her required training for three to four weeks – she has decided to withdraw as a precautionary measure to ensure she can resume her schedule in full fitness and may well target a marathon later in the Autumn.

Meanwhile Damen (self coached) will receive treatment on a sports hernia this summer and has also withdrawn to ensure she can regain full fitness ahead of her 2012 build up.
