The British Athletics Mountain Running Senior Home International 2014 takes place this weekend within the British Athletics European Mountain running Championships Trial.
This is the 4th Mountain Running Home International and England have been very successful with the men winning the team event in 2010 (Aonach Mor) and 2012 (Melmerby) and 2013 (Keswick). The women’s team came 2nd in 2010 and won in 2012 and 2013. Individually in 2010 England had winners with Orlando Edwards and Victoria Wilkinson, with Victoria repeating her victory in 2012. Steve Vernon and Emma Clayton won in 2013.
Commented Team Manager Mark Croasdale, “We have entered very strong teams and due to the strength in depth we’ve also been able to enter A and B teams and we hope to retain our team titles – any individual victories will be a great bonus. This is also the European Mountain Running Championships trial and if we are successful it will mean a number of our team will be selected to represent Great Britain at the European Championships in France in early July.”
