Mo Farah returns to track

Mo Farah - Portland

On Sunday night, Mo Farah (coach: Alberto Salazar) returned to the track for the first time since winning gold over 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow last summer and it was business as usual.

The double Olympic champion was running at the Portland Track Festival, a low key meeting near his training base in Oregon, USA and he thrilled the local crowd with a 53 second last lap to take 5,000m victory. Mo’s winning time was 13.23.42 and he later told reporters:

“My aim was just to run a good race here; I wasn’t thinking too much about the time, just running. It’s good to be back on the track in a low-key meet. Training has been going well, so I was confident in myself. Everything seems to be moving in the right direction.”

Mo’s next race will be the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix at Hampden Park on Saturday 12 July, and with the meeting being a Diamond League event, he’ll join some of the best athletes in world across a multitude of events. Tickets for that event are on sale here, with children’s tickets free with every paying adult:
