The team of Kelly Sotherton, Marilyn Okoro, Lee McConnell and Jenny Meadows recorded a time of 3.31.36 to take silver behind Russia with France taking the bronze.

Having won European indoor bronze in both 2005 and 2007, going one better in Paris adds to McConnell’s already impressive medal tally both indoors and out. It was a successful championships for the GB team, placing 4th in the medal table behind Russia, France and Germany.

Great Britain won 8 medals accross the three days of competition; silver for both men’s and women’s 4x400m teams, Dwain Chambers in the 60m, Jenny Meadows in the 800m and Tiffany Ofili in the 60m hurdles; bronze for Richard Buck in the 400m and fantastic golds for Mo Farah and Helen Clitheroe in the 3000m. The French team rose to the occassion of being host nation and it’s to be hoped the same effect will be evident at both London 2012 and Glasgow 2014.

Congratulations to all GB athletes who competed in Paris!   source SAF
